To see how many of a given part is included in all NXT kits, you will need to know which part you are looking for and follow these steps.

In this example, we will find out how many 7-module long axles are in all the NXT sets

Step 1. Find the part

Step 2. Read the "Absolute Minimum" Column

We see that every NXT contains at least 4 7-module long axles.

[Top] Find A Part Common To Two Kits

To find out how many of a given piece you can count on two different kits having, you'll need to know which piece you are looking for, and what the two kits are you are checking on.

In this example, we will find out how many 7-module long axles are sure to be in every NXT 2.0 kit and every NXT Education Base Set with Resource Kit.

Step 1. Find the part

Step 2. Look at the table in the "Quantities" column.

Step 3. Look at the row that matches the first kit.

We want to see what is in common between an NXT 2.0 kit and the combined NXT Education Base Set and Resource Kit, so we'll start with looking at the row for the NXT 2.0 kit.

Step 4. Look at the column that matches the second kit

The column marked "Edu + Rsc" is the one for the Education Base Set with a Resource Kit

Step 5. Read the value where the row and column meet.

In this case, the number is 10. That means that every owner of an NXT 2.0 kit and every owner of a combined NXT Education Base Set and Resource Kit will have 10 7-module long axles (provided they haven't lost any!)
